OSI Group company was incorporated in 1909 by Otto Kolschowsky as a butcher shop and meat market in Chicago. I n 1970 Sheldon Lavin joined the company -then referred to as Otto &Sons- as a finance consultant, at a time when the company was seeking funds to carry out expansion after been selected as the first hamburger supplier to MacDonald’s.
In 1973, under his leadership, the company opened an individual plant to serve MacDonald. In 1975, he became a partner when Otto & sons required international investment funds for the sake of expanding other countries outside the United States. It is in this season that Otto &Sons changed the name to OSI Group.
As a result of implementing the market-focused strategy as well as several acquisitions, Osi has become one of the largest food processing companies globally.
